WINNER #2

True Random Number Generator 1 8

Because there was some confusion about what needed to be done to enter I originally just did a random follower, but she didn't really enter, so I decided to do a second winner because I love you guys.  Commenter #8 wins.  I took myself out of the running, so that means Joelle from inthekitchenwhereIbelong.blogspot.com has won a headband.  I too referred Joelle, so it looks like I get two headbands. haha.  Joelle is doing a really cool giveaway on her blog right now to CSNstores so go check that out for a chance to win a $20 gift card.  Congrats Joelle.

GIVE AWAY!!!

In celebration of my AWESOME friends who have started to follow my blog I have decided to do a give away.  Since I love the head band I made for my daughter I will be giving one away to one lucky reader on Monday.  YAY!  I know you are all excited and I really appreciate your support of this blog, so I wanted to start with a BANG.  I can make the headband any color you want and I can make it for you or a special little girl you love.  Here are the rules.

You must "Follow" my blog or add it to your RSS feed and comment saying you did so.

Second invite your friends to join and enter the giveaway.

If you have been invited by a friend please comment with their name.

The BEST part is that if you invite your friends and your friend wins YOU win too.  So I could be giving away TWO headbands.

I am SO excited.  Thank you everyone who follows this blog.

Here's a pic of the headband from the last post.

Unexpected Craziness

Well I was planning on having the desk I'm working on done yesterday, so I could blog it today, but I was evacuated due to a gas pipe bursting, so I didn't get it done.  I'd say that's a pretty good excuse, so I'll cut myself some slack.  When I was allowed to go home I hadn't had my craft fix for the day, so I spent some quality time with my glue gun.  I have some pretty cool stuff I'm working on and I'm super excited about it.  When I get back from my vacation I was supposed to go on YESTERDAY I will be a blogging fanatic with lots of cool ideas to show you.  So don't give up on my blog.  I will be back.

PS - ADD MY BLOG!  I need to look legit just in case they mention my blog in the article.

And to keep you coming back for more here are some pics of my beautiful daughter modeling her new headband.  Did I mention I LOVE my hot glue gun.  No sewing involved.

It's a fabric wrapped headband with a little flower on it.
It's kind of blurry, but I love these flowers right now. I have some other projects featuring these flowers, so I'll post a link to a tutorial so you can do them yourself when I blog those.

Work in Progress

I am super excited about a couple of things right now.  For one, someone contacted me today about an article they are writing about crafting and blogging for the BYU newspaper.  So fun! (Thanks Heather)  I guess that means I'm legit or they don't know ANYONE!  If you all aren't already aware this is one of many fabulous crafting blogs.  If all has gone according to plan, I now have a list of the many  blogs I'm obsessed with posted on my blog.  Where?  I don't know (remember I said this blog was a work in progress), but they should be on there.

The second thing I'm super excited about is that I have been working on my crafting hub for a few days now.  I've been refinishing this sewing desk and it has been giving me some grief, but I think I'm finally headed in the right direction.  It's mostly painted, so after I finish that and assemble one of the doors (not necessarily in that order) I'll just have the glaze to do and it will be perfect.  I even have the perfect place for it which is pretty impressive because there are five of us in a less than 800 sqft apartment.  The joys of student life.  Someday I will have an art studio and I will appreciate it.  Until then I will cherish my crafting corner and I will keep this wretched sewing table until the day I die.  And even then they'll have to pry it from my cold stiff fingers.

This is a Martha Stewart craft room in one of her many houses.  It's the whole third story.  I am so jealous.  It's even my favorite color.  I WILL BE THE NEXT MARTHA!  Only without the whole insider trading/jail thing.

This is where the magic happens.

I have a lot to learn

In my attempts to be crafty and make my house fabulous for little to no money I bought a mirror.  It's a large mirror and the plan was to refinish it.  Well I refinished it and I don't like it.  I had big plans that just kept changing.  I was going to add screws to this mirror and hang it near my door to keep my front door clear of keys, backpacks and purses, but it's really just too big.  So I posted it on Craigslist and KSL and we'll see if I can sell it.  $20 to whoever wants it.

Before

After

Update:  After posting this I sort of had an epiphany.  I am thinking about hanging it just like it is in the picture and putting hooks on the bottom and putting vinyl lettering on the top.  I need suggestions for what to write though.  I could put my last name, but that's sort of cliche, or put welcome, but it will be behind my front door when my door is open.  I guess if it sells before I can think of something to put on there then that will be the end of the mirror dilemma.  PLEASE HELP!  I'd love to keep it.

The dresser that started it all

I bought the ugliest dresser at DI yesterday morning.  I originally went there looking for a shelf to put my cook books on, but upon looking for a shelf I discovered that all of them were tiny.  By shelf I mean something that can hang on the wall.  Cupboard space in my kitchen is limited and I had this whole cupboard dedicated to cook books, so in order to free up some space I decided to put them on a hanging shelf above my kitchen table.  Anyway now that you know what the plan was and that it didn't work out according to plan I will show and tell you how it did work out.  And it TOTALLY worked out.  Sometimes what actually happens is way better than what you had planned.

I wish I would have taken a before picture of this dresser, but I didn't.  Just imagine the ugliest dresser you have ever seen and multiply that by $10 because that's how much this dresser cost.  It had some screws drilled into the top and the drawers were all falling off and one track was broken and one drawer was broken.  Then $15 later I created this...

The best part about the dresser is that we had the perfect little, and I mean little, spot in our bedroom to put it.  Please disregard the crap in the background.
The whole reason I got the dresser was because I wanted to use these crates as shelves for our cookbooks.  I realized I could shuffle things around in my house while I was perusing DI.
And since I had some left over paint I was able to finally paint this rocking chair I got at the baby shower for my first child.  She's four now.  Can we say procrastinator?
